McGahan Center

The McGahan Center, named after Gavin Foundation long-time CEO John McGahan, is our only inpatient program.

The center is a 64-bed healthcare facility that provides Acute Treatment Services (Detox) and Clinical Stabilization Services to adults struggling with substance use disorder. The programs provide a safe space which focuses on stabilizing individuals, enhancing their motivation to change, and linking them to continued treatment options and collateral services. Clients are admitted by licensed medical staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The program is staffed by highly skilled, licensed professionals who work with each client to develop an individualized treatment plan and determine appropriate aftercare.

Acute Treatment Services (ATS) include detoxification – medically monitored withdrawal services – to assist clients in managing their physical symptoms while discontinuing their substance use safely and comfortably. Clients also receive education, motivational interventions, and case management services to guide them to the next level of care. The average length of stay is 4 to 7 days.

Clinical Stabilization Services (CSS) utilizes evidence-based practices to provide a bridge between initial withdrawal symptom management and the next steps to sustainable recovery. Clinical interventions and treatment focus on managing symptoms and ensuring that clients have essential coping skills and recovery tools to build and maintain a strong foundation for long-term recovery. The average length of stay is 14 days.
