Recognizing that recovery extends beyond initial treatment, the Gavin Foundation opened its first Graduate Center in 1976 to provide continued support for men transitioning from residential programs. Due to growing demand, two more graduate houses we opened and today, the Graduate Centers serve alumni of Gavin House, Charlestown Recovery House and Hamilton House.
Residents typically stay for an additional four months, during which they continue structured recovery activities, including 12-Step participation, aftercare groups and remain engaged in the recovery community. A live-in House Manager ensures safety, facilitates weekly groups, monitors progress, and manages operations.
The Graduate Centers operate without public funding, entirely self-sustained through resident contributions and fundraising, offering a vital bridge between structured treatment and independent living.
